Being 'in between' religions, I turned to the mighty God Emperor for direction, clarity and purpose. The Emperor taught me about the deeper meaning of true anguish and sacrifice through altruistic campaigns of ridding his galactic empire of heretics. Through trials of extraction at derelict Space Hulks littered with Xeno infestation, the salvaging of obliterated Black Ships sparkling in the void, the unearthing of ecclesiastic dogma buried in magnificent Cathedral libraries, by hi-jacking Titans and turning our condemnation at the mutants and the cleansing and purifying of the incessant and decrepit under hive cults. The Emperor provides! This book would be useful to any Dark Heresy campaign and to many Rogue Trader or Deathwatch campaigns. The focus is on the Eccesiarchy, and there is a lot of twisted history of the church portrayed here. Great background information for players and GMs alike. The book covers the history of the Church of the God Emperor, it's current state, the Sororitas is great detail, new Faith based powers, religious items, and Ecclesiarchy campaigns. The highlight for me was the Sisters of Battle. For Ascension level Sororitas players, I recommend the free Heresy Begets Retribution for ascended sisters, available on the FFG website:. A Sister Palatine kicks serious butt, and would hold her own in a Deathwatch game. The lowlight was the Sister Dialogous support.
This academic sister is supposed to be an expert in languages, yet doesn't get to learn any. Crack for terminal server licensing windows 2008 r2. GM tinkering will be required. The art is good to very good, and evokes the gothic-future of the 40k world.
The people depicted are no longer just 'white men in space.' Now there are 'white women in space, with lipstick!' This seems a shame if the table-top role playing hobby hopes to attract a wider audience. The Battle Sisters are more fun than the already fun version found in the Inquisitor's Handbook. There is plenty of Cleric love too. If you play either of these, I recommend the book. If you want to read more backstory on the Church of the God Emperor, I recommend this book. Since taking over Games Workshop's RPG line Fantasy Flight Games have produced nothing but quality products and this is no exception.
Sisters of Battle and Ecclesiarchy have been part of the 40k universe from the beginning but have only gotten sporatic attention in the game. This book changes that. This book gives players a history of the cult of the God-Emperor and examples of how it evolved on millions of worlds. It opens up new career paths including Confessors, Frateris Militia, Redepmtionists (an old favorite from Necromunda), Exorcists, Drill Abbots (who train the orphaned children of Imperial servants), Witchfinders, and several types of Battle Sisters (40ks infamous 'nuns with guns').The art is fantastic throughout with lavish color illustrations. A few are reused from older GW books but most are new and original. This is a great addition to Dark Heresy and a great read for any Warhammer fan looking to learn more about the Battle Sisters and Ecclesiarchy.
The light of the God-Emperor stands between humanity and destruction. Against myriad enemies, the Ecclesiarchy defends the faith with bolt, chain, and flame.Blood of Martyrs contains new rules, backgrounds, alternate careers and equipment for playing servants of the Adeptus Ministorum, the church of the God-Emperor of Mankind.Included within are a detailed history of the Ecclesiarchy and the Sisters of Battle, as well as extensive accounts of the Ministorum within the Calixis Sector from Shrine worlds to the powerful cardinals of the Sector Synod. Take up the mantle of the most faithful of the Emperor’s servants, the Adepta Sororitas including the Sisters of Battle and the Orders Dialogous, Famulous and Hospitaller!
