Dictionary is sourcebook, usually arranged alphabetically, which consistsof various words, their meanings and usages. Dictionary, therefore, playsan important role for foreign language learners. There are many Arabicdictionaries written by Indonesian.

The most well known is the so-called Kamus Arab-Indonesia by Mahmud Yunus. This bilingual dictionary was actually authored in 1972; and, however, still commonly used by Arabiclearners up to now. This article will further examine this dictionary andgive a critical account on it as well as its author: Mahmud Yunus. Description:Jurnal Al Bayan: Jurnal Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Arab published twice a year since 2010 (June and December). Since 2017 this journal began in the online, is a multilingual (Indonesia, Arabic, and English), peer-reviewed journal, and specializes in Arabic Education.
